Gaza Civil Defense appealed to countries worldwide and humanitarian and international organizations for urgent intervention to provide the oils, tires and batteries needed to operate and maintain its vehicles and machinery, amid the halt of several of them and a shortage of these supplies in local markets.
In a statement, it said the scarcity of these materials and their sharp rise in prices deepen the difficulties facing its crews in maintaining the readiness of vehicles and machinery, and limit their ability to respond quickly to reports and incidents and deliver humanitarian services.
It explained that Civil Defense vehicles and machinery have been operating under difficult conditions for years, requiring a continuous supply of operating and maintenance materials, including oils, tires, batteries and fuel.
Gaza Civil Defense warned of growing humanitarian needs during the winter season and an increase in distress calls and field interventions, urging the international community, humanitarian institutions and relevant parties to press for facilitating the entry of these supplies into the Gaza Strip, and enabling Civil Defense crews to continue their work in saving lives and responding to incidents.
