The World Health Organization has warned that the humanitarian and health crisis in the Gaza Strip continues, stressing that the territory remains in a state of emergency nearly a year after the ceasefire.
Speaking during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Gaza's health system is under severe pressure, with humanitarian and health needs still immense.
Ghebreyesus called for ensuring rapid, sustained and unimpeded access of humanitarian aid into the Strip, along with the entry of medicines and essential medical supplies.
He stressed the need to rehabilitate damaged health facilities, open patient referral pathways, and expand medical evacuations so that patients can receive the care they need.
