Israeli forces have damaged more than 80 percent of all buildings in the besieged Gaza Strip since the genocidal war on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, with around 2.15 million Palestinians displaced.
Citing the latest satellite-based assessment conducted by the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT), the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said in a statement issued to mark World Habitat Day and Arab Housing Day that around 201,290 buildings were damaged as a result of the Israeli occupation aggression against the Gaza Strip between October 7, 2023, and June 16, 2026.
The bureau said this represents an estimated 82 percent of the total number of buildings in the Gaza Strip. Out of the total, 134,422 buildings were destroyed, and 13,848 buildings sustained severe damage, it said, adding that the number of damaged housing units stood at 328,627.
Israel's genocidal war in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and injured over 175,000 others, and destroyed around 90% of the enclave's infrastructure.
The destruction has also affected water and wastewater infrastructure, around 90% of which had been damaged or destroyed as of the first half of 2026, PCBS said. It said that 82% of households in Gaza face water insecurity, while around 70% receive only about six liters (1.6 gallons) of water per person per day.
Despite a ceasefire in effect since Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,445 Palestinians and injured 5,072 others, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Israel also continues to restrict the entry of agreed quantities of food, medicine, medical supplies, shelter materials and prefabricated homes into Gaza, where around 2.4 million Palestinians live, including 2.15 million displaced people, according to the agency.
The occupied West Bank also has suffered extensive destruction at the hands of Israeli forces.
In Jenin Refugee Camp, the total number of damaged structures reached 680, representing approximately 53 percent, the PCBS said, after Israel launched a wide-scale assault on West Bank refugee camps which began in January 2025.
In Nur Shams Refugee Camp, 434 structures were damaged, accounting for 55 percent of the total structures, while in Tulkarm Refugee Camp, 407 structures were damaged, representing approximately 37 percent of the total structures, as of February 2026.
