Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in remarks carried by Hebrew reports that "Israel is settling accounts with the October 7 resistance fighters, will topple the regime in Iran, eliminate Hamas, and also deal with Hezbollah."
Netanyahu claimed: "In the West Bank, a thousand attacks were foiled, meaning a thousand attempts to kill settlers." He added: "We are settling accounts with those responsible for October 7, the enemy is not static and conditions are changing, and Iran's and the resistance factions' desire to destroy the state of Israel has not faded."
He indicated that he "will eliminate Hamas, and above all we will defeat the regime in Iran, we will topple it and it will fall, and we will also deal with Hezbollah, and it too will fall."
Despite nearly three years since the war began, Netanyahu still presents the elimination of Hamas as a goal not yet finally achieved, while the movement remains present in the Gaza Strip. The goal of returning all Israeli captives has also not been achieved through military operations alone, and the captives file has remained a central focus of negotiations and agreements reached during the war.
Meanwhile, post-war arrangements and the future administration of the Gaza Strip remain disputed, including the role of the Palestinian Authority and the future of Hamas.
Regarding the declared goal of preventing a repeat of the October 7 attack and achieving long-term security for "Israel," the war has extended to other fronts, while confrontations and military operations in Gaza continued even after the ceasefire announced in October 2025, with the ceasefire failing to end Israeli attacks or resolve the issue of disarming Hamas.
This comes as Netanyahu, ahead of the Israeli elections scheduled for October 27, 2026, reasserts the same war goals he has failed to achieve for three years, while expanding his talk about Iran and Hezbollah.
