The government in Ramallah announced that 51% of public sector employees have begun receiving no less than 80% of their salaries, while about 36% of them receive the equivalent of a full salary, as part of measures taken to alleviate the effects of the financial crisis on employees.
The government explained that the "Yabus" application has contributed to enhancing employees' access to a portion of their financial dues, alongside other services including vehicle licensing and covering tuition installments for the children of university employees.
Yabus is a closed government electronic payment system dedicated to government employees, allowing them to use part of their dues to pay essential service bills without the need to withdraw them in cash.
The Ministry of Finance had gradually rolled out the application to public sector employees before announcing in July of last year that it was available to all employees of ministries, government institutions and security agencies.
These measures come amid the ongoing financial crisis facing the government in Ramallah, which the government has attributed to the continued withholding of clearance funds for the 17th consecutive month.
