Civil Defense Worker Killed While Evacuating Injured in Jabalia

Israeli forces killed Mohamed Tammous as he attempted to evacuate wounded people in Jabalia camp, as ceasefire violations continue across Gaza.

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian Civil Defense member attempting to evacuate people wounded by an earlier attack in northern Gaza overnight.

Israeli forces targeted Mohamed Tammous during an attempt to evacuate people wounded in an Israeli attack in Jabalia camp, according to Gaza's Ambulance and Emergency Services.

The attack comes as Palestinians in the war-torn enclave mark three years of Israel's genocidal war, which has devastated vast areas of Gaza and shattered the lives of a population of around two million people.

The anniversary comes amid a fragile ceasefire that has been violated by Israel through attacks, killings, and aid restrictions.

At least 111 Palestinians, including 23 children and 10 women, were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip in September, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza. The September toll included 74 men, 23 children, 10 women and four elderly people, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed since the start of the ceasefire in October 2025 to 1,440 by the end of September.

The cumulative figure includes 324 children, 140 women, 938 men and 38 elderly people, according to the Ministry.

On September 29, Gaza's Government Media Office said 5,147 violations of the ceasefire had been recorded since October 10, 2025, resulting in 1,421 Palestinians killed, while adding that Israel is restricting the entry of humanitarian aid.

Apartment buildings, markets, vehicles, and cafés have continued to come under Israeli attack. In some cases, families received displacement orders only minutes before their homes were bombed, while many others received no warning at all.

United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk condemned Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip, saying that "the unrelenting pattern of killings" reflects Israel's "sweeping impunity".

"Palestinians are still being killed and injured in what is left of their homes, shelters and tents of displaced families, on the streets, in vehicles, at a medical facility and a classroom," Turk said.

"We mourn as Gaza reaches yet another tragic milestone … Thousands more people who were told the worst was over are still burying their loved ones," said Fikr Shalltoot, Gaza director at Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Doctors Without Borders, known as MSF, said it has been "over 1,000 days since Israel's genocide in Gaza began, and the collective punishment of Palestinians continues to this day. Amidst a so-called ceasefire, the world has normalised seeing Palestinians being maimed and killed daily in their tents, in hospitals, and on the street."

The attacks come as Israel heads toward its October 27 election, with its most senior ministers having returned, one after another, to openly promoting the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, reviving plans to expel the enclave's more than two million Palestinians.

Recently, ICC-wanted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has no intention of withdrawing from territory occupied by its forces in Gaza, confirming that Israeli forces now control 60 percent of the enclave and threatening that "more is to come" during a visit near Gaza's so-called "Yellow Line."

Netanyahu rejected a proposal for advancing to the next stage of Trump's so-called peace plan to end the genocide in Gaza after Hamas responded to it positively.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned on Monday that Israel is "progressively asphyxiating Gaza and continuing its genocide: the space in which people can live is vanishing, while the conditions people need to survive are being systematically destroyed through continued violence, the deliberate blockade of essential supplies, and the destruction of healthcare and vital infrastructure."

"Destruction, displacement and deprivation have become normalised — practices Israel is carrying out with impunity," Amande Bazerolle, MSF head of emergency response in Gaza, said marking three years of Israeli genocide.

"Governments must act now to ensure Israel stops the destruction and killing, prevents ethnic cleansing, and stops denying Palestinians the means of survival."
