Activists across four continents rallied in support of Palestine on Wednesday, with hundreds of thousands taking to the streets in demonstrations against Israel’s war on Gaza as Palestinians marked three years of relentless attacks and widespread devastation.
In Colombia, hundreds of people, many of them university students, rallied in Bogota despite the rain, opposing Colombia’s new right-wing government’s policy towards Israel.
South Africa, Germany, Pakistan, Morocco, the US, Amsterdam, Montreal, and Turkey also rallied for Palestine.
Paris, meanwhile, banned the protest organized by the Urgence Palestine collective and billed as a protest “against the genocide in Gaza and for respect for the ceasefire.”
In London, pro-Palestine students took to the streets on October 7, despite police calls to postpone the march. Eleven people were arrested, the Metropolitan Police has said.
It has been three years since Israel launched its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Israel’s assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, turning what had already been a 16-year siege into a total stranglehold.
Three years of Israeli attacks have killed at least 74,240 Palestinians. Thousands of other people are still under the rubble.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 92 percent of all residential buildings and 88 percent of commercial facilities had been damaged or destroyed.
Entire neighbourhoods have been wiped out, leaving millions of Palestinians displaced and without shelter.
Israel continues to attack the Palestinian enclave despite the so-called US-backed ceasefire which took effect in October 2025, killing over 1,445 Palestinians and injuring 5,072 others.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) warned on Monday that Israel is “progressively asphyxiating Gaza and continuing its genocide: the space in which people can live is vanishing, while the conditions people need to survive are being systematically destroyed through continued violence, the deliberate blockade of essential supplies, and the destruction of healthcare and vital infrastructure.”
“Destruction, displacement and deprivation have become normalised — practices Israel is carrying out with impunity,” Amande Bazerolle, MSF head of emergency response in Gaza, said marking three years of Israeli genocide.
“Governments must act now to ensure Israel stops the destruction and killing, prevents ethnic cleansing, and stops denying Palestinians the means of survival.”
