Study Reveals Alarming Mental Health Figures Among Gaza Youth

The Ministry of Health releases findings showing widespread anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder among young people in the Gaza Strip, calling for urgent intervention.

The Ministry of Health has revealed the results of a recent study on the mental health of young people in the Gaza Strip, showing alarming figures that require urgent intervention.

The ministry stated that 98% of young people feel constant anxiety about their personal lives, while 61% suffer from moderate to severe anxiety according to the standard general anxiety scale.

Regarding depression, the results indicated that 57% of young people suffer from moderate to severe depression, while 39% feel constant fear.

The study also showed that 62% of young people feel misery, exhaustion and helplessness, and that 56% met the criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Ministry of Health called for intensifying psychological and social support programs for young people, strengthening available mental health services, and working to raise community awareness of the importance of mental health and its direct impact on quality of life.
