Gaza Health Ministry Documents Three-Year Genocide Toll

A Palestinian Health Ministry report documents 74,237 martyrs and 175,267 injuries since October 2023, alongside a deepening humanitarian and health crisis in Gaza.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has revealed, in a report issued by its Health Information Unit on the third anniversary of the war's start, a harrowing toll of the Israeli genocide in the Strip and the wide-ranging humanitarian and health losses it has left in martyrs, injuries and destruction.

The Health Ministry said the total number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip reached 74,237, with 175,267 injured since October 2023.

According to the report, children make up 29.6 percent of the martyrs, or 21,976 children, including 1,125 under one year old and 5,444 under five.

The number of children who were born and martyred during the war reached 612. According to the ministry, one child is martyred in the Strip every 71 minutes.

Women accounted for 15.2 percent (11,301 martyrs), the elderly for 7.3 percent (5,405 martyrs), and men for 47.9 percent (35,555 martyrs).

Some 45,569 children were injured, 1,134 amputations were recorded among children, and the number of orphans reached 71,846.

According to the report, 914,102 children in the Gaza Strip are currently deprived of education.

The report recorded 466 deaths from malnutrition, including 157 children. The number of children classified as food insecure reached 1,204,102.

The recorded cases of malnutrition among children under five totalled 94,086 in 2025, including 17,949 acute and severe cases.

The period from January to August 2026 recorded 23,883 cases in total, including 3,148 acute and severe cases.

Anemia among pregnant women rose from 41 percent in 2022 to 61 percent in 2026, after reaching 67 percent in 2025.

The mortality rate for children under five rose to 33.4 per 1,000 live births in 2025, compared with 13.6 in 2022.

The report stated that all 38 hospitals in the Strip were targeted. Nineteen hospitals currently operate partially, including 5 government and 12 field hospitals, while 19 hospitals are out of service.

All 158 primary care centres were also targeted; 94 operate partially and 64 are out of service.

Ministry of Health beds dropped from 2,674 in 2022 to 1,205 in 2026. Some 825 health facilities and 216 ambulance vehicles were documented as targeted. 1,723 health personnel were martyred, and 362 were detained.

MRI machines have stopped working entirely, according to the equipment data in the report.

Zero-stock items, meaning those whose supply has run out, reached 44 percent for essential medicines, 54 percent for medical consumables, and 71 percent for laboratory consumables.

The deficit in laboratory testing materials reached 83 percent. Medicine shortages in critical services for 2026 reached 96 percent in cardiac catheterisation and open-heart surgery, and 85 percent in eye surgery.

About 21,000 registered patients are waiting to travel for treatment, including 5,803 children and 4,800 cancer patients.

The lists include 160 life-saving cases and 2,220 emergency cases. 2,027 patients died while awaiting medical evacuation, including 264 children and 505 cancer patients. 2,853 patients have been evacuated since February 2026.
