Settler Attacks Sweep West Bank as Olive Harvest Escalates

Settlers launched widespread attacks across the West Bank, targeting farmers and olive harvesters, attacking vehicles, cutting electricity and enclosing Bedouin communities with barbed wire.

Widespread attacks by settlers against citizens and their property were reported across various areas of the West Bank on Monday, including assaults on farmers and olive pickers, attacks on vehicles, power cuts to homes, and the encircling of Bedouin communities with barbed wire.

A young man was injured with wounds and bruises in a settler attack on the town of Turmusaya, north of Ramallah, while settlers attacked citizens' vehicles in the evening on the road between the villages of Al-Mughayyir and Abu Falah, northeast of the governorate. Others released their livestock onto citizens' lands in the town of Beit Ur al-Tahta, west of Ramallah.

Settlers attacked farmers in the town of Yasuf, east of Salfit, expelled them from their lands, and stole olive fruit and a harvesting machine.

In Masfer Yatta, south of Hebron, settlers assaulted citizens while they were picking olives, while others intercepted the road of school students and prevented them from returning to their homes. Armed settlers also cut power lines feeding citizens' homes in the Wadi al-Awur area, east of Hebron, for the sixth consecutive time.

In occupied East Jerusalem, settlers surrounded the Bedouin communities of al-Mahthouth and al-Tabana, near the Khan al-Ahmar area, with barbed wire, a move that would restrict the movement of residents and herders and isolate the two communities from one another.

In this context, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission announced, in a preliminary tally based on field reports, that 219 attacks carried out by settlers and Israeli occupation forces were recorded between the first and 12th of October, including 136 attacks linked to the olive harvesting season.
