The Houthis announced they had targeted Riyadh airport with a ballistic missile, after having announced the execution of a "qualitative military operation" targeting Aramco in Dhahran in the Eastern Region, King Khalid International Airport and the Aramco refinery in Riyadh, with a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said "the hit was precise and caused destruction and fires at the targeted sites," adding that "the Yemeni armed forces confirm that their operations toward the Saudi depth will continue in the coming days, targeting the airport of the Saudi enemy and its oil facilities, and the consequences for it will be severe."
Saree warned "all international shipping companies, citizens and workers at those airports and companies to stay away from them and evacuate them immediately, as they have become legitimate targets for our armed forces."
The Yemeni arena is witnessing an accelerating military escalation, with continued confrontations between government forces and Ansar Allah (the Houthis), in conjunction with the government forces' launch of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation, and the expansion of the scope of airstrikes and missile strikes to include areas inside Yemen and Saudi Arabia, amid warnings of mounting security and humanitarian repercussions.
Western sources said that most of the Kingdom's airports are practically disabled and that dozens of international airlines have suspended their flights to Saudi Arabia.
