The Palestinian Government Communication Center announced today, Thursday, 15 October 2026, that Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa accepted the resignation of Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Mohammed Najm, after he submitted his resignation letter.
The resignation followed a wave of widespread controversy on social media after a video clip circulated showing the minister placing his prayer beads in a cup of water after reciting prayers over a girl, so that she would drink the water later, which sparked widespread interaction and criticism.
