Nablus governorate witnessed on Thursday an escalation in settler attacks and Israeli occupation forces' measures, including preventing farmers from harvesting olives and forcing them to leave their lands, stealing crops and harvesting equipment, and cutting electricity poles feeding a Palestinian home, in tandem with the closure of main and secondary checkpoints and roads, which obstructed the movement of residents between villages and towns.
In northwest Nablus, Israeli occupation forces and settlers prevented Palestinians from harvesting olives in lands northwest of the town of Yasid, and forced them to leave. Settlers also expelled olive pickers from their lands in the Al-Shaab area south of the village of Asira al-Qibliya, after two settler vehicles entered the area.
In the Jallud plain, specifically in the Abu Dala area, settlers attacked farmers while they were harvesting olives and stole picking mats and the collected olive crop, before withdrawing after Palestinians confronted them.
The area between the villages of Qaryut and Jallud saw settlers gather in the eastern plain known as Sarra plain, in tandem with their movements since the morning hours in the Khulayil Saad area between Asira al-Qibliya and Urif, amid continued pressure on farmers.
East of Beit Furik, Israeli occupation forces prevented Palestinians from harvesting olives and forced them to leave their lands. Settlers also cut the electricity poles feeding the house of the Sufan family on the outskirts of the village of Burin, near the bypass road of the Yitzhar settlement.
As part of the pressure on the movement of Palestinians, Israeli occupation forces closed the Ein Shalabi, Huwara, Beit Furik and the checkpoint known as "No. 17" checkpoints, along with the entrances to the villages of Awarta, Burin and Burqa and the Sebastia gate. They also closed the Jamma'in road and continued to close the secondary entrances to the village of Deir Sharaf with dirt barriers.
Israeli occupation forces tightened their measures at the Sarra and Al-Murabba'a checkpoints, obstructing traffic, while an armed settler closed the bypass road in Zawata, west of Nablus, to Palestinian vehicles.
These attacks come in tandem with the olive harvest season, which is witnessing targeting of farmers and their lands by preventing them from reaching them, forcing them to leave and stealing crops, alongside measures obstructing the movement of Palestinians between the towns and villages of Nablus governorate.
