Gaza Health Ministry: Generator Oil Runs Out in Hospitals

Gaza's Health Ministry announced that the oil needed to run hospital generators has run out, warning of immediate mechanical collapse and power cuts to vital, life-saving departments.

Gaza's Health Ministry announced that the quantities of oil needed to operate generators in hospitals have run out. In a statement, the ministry said the crisis means the immediate collapse and mechanical deterioration of the remaining generators, which are operating under complex engineering and technical conditions.

The ministry explained that generators stopping would cut power supplies to several vital and life-saving departments.

It noted that the monthly need for oil exceeds 2,500 litres to keep the generators running.

The ministry added: "The Ministry of Health has repeatedly warned that 'emergency solutions' that provide limited quantities of oil do not allow more time for the operation of generators, which consume more oil due to long working hours and their urgent need for maintenance."

The Health Ministry held all concerned parties responsible before their humanitarian duties to intervene immediately to ensure the entry of oil and spare parts needed to keep the generators running.
