Spokesman of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps Hossein Mohebbi said his country is preparing to unveil a weapon he described as "the father of bombs". The remarks on his country's military capabilities were carried by the Iranian Young Journalists Club news agency on Wednesday.
He noted that the United States had previously used the "mother of all bombs", adding: "We are at the stage of preparing to unveil the father of bombs. This is something new for the enemy," without providing further details.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of using the GBU-43/B bomb, known as the "mother of all bombs", in targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. The GBU-43/B weighs about 9,800 kilograms and is one of the largest non-nuclear conventional bombs in the US arsenal. It was first used in April 2017, during Trump's first presidential term, against a tunnel complex belonging to the "ISIS" terrorist organization in Afghanistan.
Without giving a specific figure, Mohebbi said the number of his country's missiles increased by one and a half times after the confrontation between Israel and Iran that began in June 2025 and lasted 12 days. He added: "The quality of the missiles has improved greatly, and their range, destructive power and accuracy in hitting targets have increased."
On 28 February, Israel and the United States launched a war on Iran, and Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and what it said were American military facilities in Arab countries.
Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding last June and began negotiations that later collapsed over differences regarding guaranteeing freedom and security of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz for energy and goods supplies.
