Occupation closes Ibrahimi Mosque to worshippers over Jewish holidays

The Ministry of Awqaf said the occupation authorities will close Hebron's Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslim worshippers and visitors from after Friday prayers until Saturday night, and prevent the call to prayer.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs announced that the Israeli occupation authorities have decided to close the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron to Muslim worshippers and visitors, starting after Friday prayers until Saturday night, on the pretext of the Jewish holidays, and to allow settlers to storm it.

The ministry said the occupation measures, which include preventing the entry of worshippers and Awqaf employees and preventing the call to prayer during the closure period, constitute an assault on freedom of worship and on the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, which is a purely Islamic waqf, and an attempt to impose temporal and spatial division within it.

It added that these violations and tightened measures around the Old City come within the framework of a policy of Judaizing Islamic holy sites.

The ministry called on international and human rights institutions to intervene urgently and pressure the occupation authorities to stop these assaults and provide protection for Islamic holy sites.
