Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri, Deputy Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, asserted that the battle of administrative detainees will be a major national revival for the Palestinian people. Speaking to Al-Aqsa TV, he said the Palestinian people will unite behind the detainees as they start their hunger strike. He highlighted detainee Walid Daqqa’s case as evidence of the occupation’s lack of ethics and humanity.
Arouri noted that resistance activity in the West Bank reflects an advanced example of unified action, stressing that fighting the resistance there serves to empower the occupation’s control over Palestinians. He warned that the current Zionist government’s strategy could ignite the region, stating that the latest occupation elections resulted in shifts with dangerous regional implications.
He stated that the Palestinian people are paying the price of Netanyahu’s attempts to preserve his coalition through increasingly extreme positions adopted by the ruling right-wing, which aims to displace Palestinians from the West Bank.
He affirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line, warning that all options are on the table and the consequences are dangerous. He called on Fatah to join a unified national strategy covering political, popular, and armed resistance, explaining that Hamas leadership spoke with Fatah about supporting political efforts alongside backing all forms of resistance.
He pointed to agreement on the gravity of the Palestinian situation, calling for leadership decisions matching the seriousness of the phase, saying experience shows that political work alone has achieved nothing and honest review requires a new national strategy based on comprehensive resistance.
He added that all Palestinian factions agree on a comprehensive resistance strategy, including both political and field efforts.
He discussed President Mahmoud Abbas’ veto on the process of reorganizing Palestinian institutions under a unified national strategy, asserting that Hamas holds significant resistance legitimacy and popular support, welcomes electoral results, and political partnership without imposing its views on the people.
He denied claims of Hamas planning to take over the West Bank, labeling them as empty propaganda created to fuel internal conflict in favor of the occupation. He described political detention as nationally disgraceful, noting that those who violate citizens’ rights will face legal justice.
He highlighted the importance of university elections in the West Bank as a reflection of the key role young, aware Palestinians play in the national equation, and as a clear indicator of public sentiment. He confirmed Hamas’ readiness to hold student elections in Gaza universities based on full proportional representation law, adding that Hamas ensures full freedom for all factions, including Fatah, to operate in Gaza.
He said Hamas contributed to building the military wings of Palestinian factions in Gaza, providing them with weapons, sites, and all necessary means to strengthen resistance.
Regarding recent meetings in Cairo, he stated that the visit was part of ongoing consultations about the Palestinian issue and the region. He denied reports of Egyptian proposals for a truce or economic projects in Gaza, affirming they have no basis, and stressed that Hamas will not abandon the resistance equation in exchange for economic or political plans, and that Gaza will remain at the heart of active resistance. He concluded that the meeting with Islamic Jihad leadership in Cairo was crucial for unifying resistance vision and coordination to serve Palestinian interests.
